Veneers Q & A

What are veneers?

Veneers are a versatile cosmetic dentistry treatment that instantly transforms discolored, chipped, worn out, or crooked teeth. These porcelain shells are custom-made to match your teeth' natural color and shape.

Are veneers right for me?

Veneers are an excellent choice to enhance the look of your teeth or cover minor flaws like chipped teeth, stained teeth, or slight misalignments.

During the initial consultation, your dentist at Sethi Dental evaluates your oral health and suggests the best veneer options for your case.

How many appointments are needed to apply the veneers?

The two procedures to affix the veneers are direct and indirect:

Direct procedure

Usually performed in a single appointment, the direct procedure, also called bonding, involves bonding a composite resin to the outside of your tooth.

Indirect procedure

The indirect procedure requires two appointments. At your first appointment, the team prepares your teeth, takes impressions, and gives you a temporary covering. Then, you return after 2-3 weeks so they can bond the customized, laboratory-made porcelain veneers to your teeth.

How do I choose between crowns or veneers?

Your dentist at Sethi Dental performs a series of X-rays and a bite analysis to determine whether crowns or veneers are best for you.

Typically, veneers enhance the look of healthy but stained or chipped teeth. Crowns protect a damaged tooth or a tooth that recently underwent a root canal treatment.

Many people prefer veneers because they look more natural since they don't show a gum margin after a few years. A crown protects teeth from decay because the entire tooth is covered.

Dental crowns are the best option if your tooth is significantly damaged, has a large filling, or has undergone a root canal since the tooth enamel is more compromised and will need better protection. Porcelain veneers, on the other hand, are best for purely cosmetic purposes. Also, dental insurance might not cover veneers because they are for cosmetic purposes.

What are the benefits of veneers?

Veneers are a great way to restore the look of tooth imperfections like stains, discoloration, chips, or slight misalignments. With good dental hygiene and aftercare, they last for 10-15 years.

Porcelain veneers may be the answer if you’re unhappy with your smile. Call the office or click online today to schedule an appointment.
